Astarta to build new oilseed processing plant in Khmelnystia region of Ukraine

Agro-industrial company Astarta has announced plans to build a new US$76M oilseed processing plant in the Ukrainian region of Khmelnystia.Commissioning of the 400,000 tonnes/year project was planned for 2026, the company said on 3 March.“The growing demand for soyabean products in the European Union opens up new opportunities,” Astarta’s chief commercial and strategic marketing director Viacheslav Chuk said.“The new multi-seed crusher will allow us to expand our range of ingredients for the feed industry.”The company said it had an agreement with an equipment and technology provider and were waiting for a decision to be made on the allocation of land for the project.

According to its website, Astarta’s activities include agriculture, bioenergy, cattle farming, grain and oilseed storage, soyabean processing and sugar production.The company has land under management in seven Ukrainian regions – Poltava, Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, Ternopil, Khmelnytsky, Chernihiv and Kharkiv.The Ukrainian company’s key crops include corn, rapeseed, soyabeans, sugar beet, sunflower and wheat.
