From July to December 2025/26, Ukraine’s rapeseed meal exports rose 70% compared to the same period last year, reaching 340,000 tons, the second-largest export volume for that half of a season in history.
Higher rapeseed processing (almost 800,000 tons) due to a 10% export duty on raw rapeseed and improved processing margins. Ukraine’s rapeseed meal exports to the EU fell from 171,000 to 71,000 tons due to high domestic EU supply and cheaper Canadian canola. Ukraine exported a record 155,000 tons to China, making it the largest importer of Ukrainian rapeseed meal.
China still imports significant amounts from Russia, India, and UAE. Improved China–Canada trade relations may reduce China’s reliance on Ukrainian rapeseed meal. China’s growing demand and EU market shifts have pushed Ukraine to reorient its rapeseed meal exports toward China, marking a historic trade milestone.
