Farmers producing silage from maize crops are witnessing improved earnings as the product continues to find strong demand in the livestock sector. According to local agricultural sources, maize-based silage—known for its high nutritional value—was produced at a cost of ₹2 per kilogram.
With a profit margin of ₹3, producers successfully sold the silage in the market at ₹5 per kilogram, making it an affordable yet profitable feed option. The rising popularity of silage among dairy and cattle farmers is attributed to its ability to enhance milk production and maintain animal health, especially during periods of fodder shortage.
Agriculture experts believe that silage-making initiatives can significantly boost farmers’ income while ensuring a steady supply of nutritious fodder for livestock.
