In a major relief to maize (corn) farmers across Telangana, the state government has announced an increase in maize procurement for the current season. The move comes as a response to falling market prices and growing concerns among farmers about unsold produce.
Officials from the Agriculture and Marketing departments confirmed that the government will set up additional procurement centers across districts to ensure farmers get a fair price for their yield. The maize will be purchased at the Minimum Support Price (MSP), protecting farmers from distress sales.
State Agriculture Minister stated that this initiative is part of the government’s ongoing commitment to support farmers and strengthen the rural economy. With the new procurement drive, thousands of maize growers in the state are expected to benefit directly. Experts believe this decision will stabilize maize prices, encourage better cultivation practices, and give farmers renewed confidence ahead of the next crop season.
