Mumbai / Austria – November 2025 – Indian bio‑fuel specialist K2 Ethanol Pvt. Ltd, part of the broader K2 Group of Industries, has selected Austrian technology group ANDRITZ AG to engineer, procure, install and commission (EPC) a greenfield integrated plant combining ethanol distillation and animal‑feed production. The project will be located in India and is said to include: An ethanol distillery with a capacity of 150,000 litres per day.

An animal‑feed (pellet) plant with a capacity of approximately 400 tons per day. A multi‑grain processing facility using agro‑residues, aligning with India’s renewable energy goals and the national ethanol‑blending programme. K2 Ethanol’s Director Rajpal Yadav said the project is significant not only for the local economy but for broader sustainability targets. “We knew we needed to involve ANDRITZ, with its proven track record … process know‑how and experience of local market dynamics.” ANDRITZ’s Vice President for South Asia (Feed & Biofuel) Pavan Kumar Pawar added: “This project shows how advanced biofuel and feed technologies can strengthen energy security and support sustainable agriculture…” The value of the order has not been publicly disclosed; the order is included in ANDRITZ’s Q3 2025 order intake.

First-of‑its‑kind agro‑residue ethanol plant: The facility is reported to be India’s first ethanol plant powered by agro‑residue (rather than traditional sugarcane/mollasses feedstocks). The co‑location of distillation and feed pellet production enables valorisation of by‑products (such as dried distillers grain) into animal nutrition, improving economics and circularity.

The award marks a strong vote of confidence in India’s bio‑refinery sector, especially in integrating multiple value‑streams in one facility. If realised on schedule, this plant may act as a model for similar integrated bio‑fuel + feed projects, helping drive both renewable‑fuel adoption and feed‑industry innovation. Timing, execution and commercial performance will be critical. The undiclosed order value means financial scale is unknown publicly; however, given the capacities involved, it is likely a material project for both parties.
