www.asiaagrifood.com - ๐Ÿ“Š๐ŸŒ Vietnam Allocates 7.73 Mln Tons of Rice for Global Exports This Year

Vietnamโ€™s Ministry of Agriculture and Environment has announced that the country is expected to supply approximately 7.73 million tons of rice for export in 2026, confirming the governmentโ€™s rice export plan for the year. This projection comes as part of broader national planning on grain production and trade management.

The total rice output for 2026 is estimated at 43.55 million tons, slightly higher than last year due to improved yields.
Rice export supply is mainly drawn from the Mekong Delta region and parts of Tay Ninh province, which together account for the majority of commercial rice production.

The 7.73 million tons earmarked for export include a mix of high-quality and fragrant rice (about 75%), glutinous rice (around 10%), and other processing rice varieties (about 15%).

Export shipments are expected to be split across the year, with over 4 million tons in the first half of 2026 and roughly 3.7 million tons in the second half, aligning with harvest peaks.

Vietnam is one of the worldโ€™s major rice exporters, having shipped over 8 million tons of rice in 2025, making it a top global supplier behind India. Governments and agricultural authorities are focusing on balancing export growth with domestic food security, ensuring sufficient reserves while promoting trade.
