Ludhiana, January 7, 2026 — The ICAR–Indian Institute of Maize Research (IIMR) in Ludhiana has launched a three-day workshop on real-time data acquisition and digital recording techniques to strengthen maize research and precision agriculture. Organized under the All India Coordinated Research Project (AICRP) on Maize, the event aims to bring cutting-edge IoT (Internet of Things) tools and digital platforms into maize data collection, analytics, monitoring, and reporting. Over 50 delegates from research institutes, state agricultural universities, private sector partners, and industry experts are participating in hands-on demonstrations, interactive panel discussions, and technical sessions throughout the workshop.
Experts highlighted how these technologies can significantly improve precision in data capture, enhance decision-making for breeding high-yielding and climate-resilient maize hybrids, and support future guidelines for coordinated maize research. The event underlines the growing role of digital innovation in modern agriculture and reflects a broader push to deploy smart tools that help researchers and farmers optimize maize production across India.
