Myanmar will commence maize exports under a zero-duty policy starting 1 February, aiming to boost agricultural trade and support local farmers, according to official sources. The decision to allow duty-free maize exports is expected to enhance Myanmar’s competitiveness in regional markets, particularly in neighboring countries where demand for maize remains strong. Exporters believe the move will help stabilize domestic maize prices while creating better income opportunities for farmers.
Trade officials stated that the zero-duty policy is part of broader efforts to promote agricultural exports and improve foreign exchange earnings. Exporters will still be required to comply with existing quality standards and export regulations.
