Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Agriculture Minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to safeguarding the interests of maize farmers, emphasizing that every effort is being made to ensure fair prices, timely procurement, and improved market stability. Speaking at a review meeting with agricultural officials on Monday, the Minister said that the government is closely monitoring market conditions to prevent traders from exploiting farmers during peak harvest seasons. He directed officials to ensure that procurement  centers are fully functional and accessible to farmers across major maize-producing districts.

Atchannaidu highlighted that the government is implementing several support measures, including transportation assistance, market intervention programs, and expansion of storage facilities. These steps, he said, would help farmers avoid distress sales and secure better earnings. The Minister also noted that the state is exploring opportunities to promote value-addition in the maize sector through food processing units and industry partnerships. “Our goal is to boost farmer incomes while strengthening the entire maize supply chain,” he added.

Farmers’ associations welcomed the Minister’s assurance, expressing hope that effective implementation of procurement and support schemes would ease challenges faced during the current agricultural season.
