Reuters - Published: September 25, 2025 Sugar production in Brazil's Center-South region during the first half of September is expected to have increased 15% year-on-year to 3.6 million tonnes, according to a survey of 11 analysts published by S&P Global Commodity Insights on Thursday, 25.
Respondents expect sugarcane crushing to have increased 6.8%, to 45.92 million tons, compared to the same period last year, according to the survey. On the other hand, they predict that the total recoverable sugar content (TRS) continued its downward trend, with a reduction of 3.9%, to 153.84 kilos per ton of cane.
Meanwhile, ethanol production – including corn and sugarcane biofuel – during the period is expected to have decreased by 3.4% compared to the previous year, to 2.37 billion liters.
