Sugar mills across Uttar Pradesh have started releasing pending cane payments, giving much-needed relief to lakhs of sugarcane farmers in the state. Officials confirmed that several mills have cleared a portion of their dues, while others are expected to follow in the coming days. Farmers, who have been waiting for their payments for months, welcomed the move but stressed the need for full and timely settlement to manage input costs for the next crop cycle.
Rising expenses on fertilizers, irrigation, and labour have put additional pressure on growers. 🌱💵Industry representatives stated that the payment release has been made possible due to improved cash flow from sugar sales and government pressure to ensure farmers are not burdened during the crushing season.
