Karnataka BJP President has strongly criticized the ruling Congress government, alleging that farmers in the state are being “completely neglected.” Speaking at a press briefing, the BJP leader claimed that several issues raised by farmer groups—such as delayed procurement, rising input costs, and inadequate market support—have not been addressed effectively. He stated that the government’s policies have failed to provide timely relief to farmers facing financial stress and crop-related uncertainties. According to the BJP, recent challenges in procurement of crops like maize, paddy, and sugarcane have added to the hardships faced by the farming community.
In response, the Congress government has maintained that it is implementing multiple welfare measures, including input subsidies, market interventions, and crop insurance schemes. Officials say the administration is committed to improving agricultural infrastructure and ensuring better support prices.
Political analysts observe that farmer-related issues are likely to remain a major point of contention between the two parties as the state moves closer to upcoming elections. Farmer organizations, meanwhile, continue to demand more consistent procurement, faster payments, and solutions to increasing cultivation costs.
