China remains the largest consumer and producer, accounting for roughly 44% of regional consumption and output. India is the leading exporter, supplying more than three-quarters of the region’s maize starch exports. Malaysia and Indonesia are the top importers, contributing to a rebound in import volumes in 2024 after several years of decline.

With global feed markets remaining dynamic, India’s rapeseed meal exports are expected to stay strong in the coming months. Continued Chinese buying, along with stable domestic production, could help maintain momentum through the remainder of the marketing year.

Indian rapeseed meal is being offered at significantly lower levels, around USD 200–235 per tonne on a CFR basis to Asian destinations. The price advantage has enhanced the competitiveness of Indian cargoes across Southeast Asia, particularly among feed millers seeking cost-effective protein alternatives.
