This comes shortly after maize cultivators raised their voices over issues related to pricing, procurement delays, and insufficient support mechanisms. Black gram farmers across several districts allege that they are facing severe losses due to falling market prices, lack of government intervention, and inadequate Minimum Support Price (MSP) enforcement.

In a major relief to maize growers across Andhra Pradesh, Agriculture Minister K. Atchannaidu has assured farmers that the government will begin timely procurement of maize to ensure they receive fair prices and are protected from market fluctuations.

Farmer leaders are now demanding expanded procurement quotas and reconsideration of early-seller eligibility so that a larger share of the bumper crop can be protected from distress sales.
