Global sugar prices climbed this week as markets reacted to signals that India—one of the world’s major sugar exporters—may reduce its export volumes for the upcoming season.

India’s sugar output for the current season has reached 41.35 lakh tonnes, reflecting steady growth in production. The National Federation of Cooperative Sugar Factories (NFCSF) has urged the government to allow an additional 10 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) of sugar exports to help stabilize the domestic market and boost the industry’s revenue.

India’s sugar industry has seen improved output in several key growing regions, supported by favorable weather conditions and expanded cultivation.
