India’s sugar output for the current season has reached 41.35 lakh tonnes, reflecting steady growth in production. The National Federation of Cooperative Sugar Factories (NFCSF) has urged the government to allow an additional 10 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) of sugar exports to help stabilize the domestic market and boost the industry’s revenue.
The federation highlighted that domestic supply is sufficient to meet internal demand, and increased exports could support farmers and sugar mills facing market pressures. Officials are expected to review the proposal soon.
With global sugar demand rising, this move could help India strengthen its position as one of the world’s top sugar exporters.
