Patna: The Bihar government has announced plans to revive two closed sugar mills in the state through the Cooperative Department, State Minister said on Tuesday. The move is aimed at strengthening the cooperative sector, boosting sugar production, and improving farmersโ€™ income.

According to the Minister, the revival of these defunct mills will help create employment opportunities at the local level and provide a stable market for sugarcane growers. The government is working on a roadmap to modernize the mills with improved technology and efficient management under the cooperative framework.

Officials added that reviving closed sugar mills is part of the stateโ€™s broader strategy to rejuvenate Biharโ€™s sugar industry and reduce dependence on private players. The Cooperative Department will oversee the operational restructuring and financial planning for the mills. The initiative is expected to benefit thousands of farmers and workers once the mills become operational.
