Maize procurement centers in Bulandshahr have failed to purchase farmers’ crops, causing growing concern among the farming community. According to local farmers, no official procurement of maize has taken place at government centers till December 31, despite repeated assurances from authorities. As a result, farmers are being forced to wait or sell their produce elsewhere.
🌽🚜Farmers have alleged that in the absence of active procurement, private traders are taking advantage of the situation by purchasing maize at prices significantly lower than the Minimum Support Price (MSP). Many farmers claim they have no option but to sell at reduced rates due to lack of storage facilities and urgent financial needs. This has led to widespread dissatisfaction and anger among maize growers in the region.
📉⚠️Farmer unions have demanded immediate intervention from the district administration and the agriculture department to ensure procurement begins without further delay. They have warned that continued inaction could lead to protests if farmers’ issues are not addressed promptly. Officials, however, have stated that steps are being taken to resolve the issue and streamline the procurement process. 🌾🗣️
