Sugar Ethanol Bioenergy Int- Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has said that India has successfully achieved 20 per cent ethanol blending in petrol in 2025, five years ahead of its original target set for 2030. Highlighting the country’s clean energy progress, the minister noted that ethanol blending in petrol has risen from just 1.5% in 2014 to 20% in 2025, a nearly 13-fold increase over 11 years. Mr Puri emphasised that the shift towards ethanol-blended fuel has not only bolstered energy security but also led to significant economic and environmental benefits. Ethanol production has surged from 38 crore litres in 2014 to 661.1 crore litres by June 2025.

Sugar Ethanol Bioenergy Int- Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB) chairman Dr. R.P. Singh on Thursday assured representatives of the state’s 133 sugar mills that the board will extend full support to them in meeting environmental compliance and consent requirements. The assurance was given during a dialogue programme with industry stakeholders, reported The Times of India.Dr. Singh underlined the importance of the sugar sector to the state’s economy and society.

Strong overseas sales helped the sector offset the effects of volatile weather and fluctuating commodity prices.

Sugar Ethanol Bioenergy Int- India has allowed production of ethanol from sugarcane juice, syrup and all types of molasses without any restrictions on volumes in 2025/2026, the government said in a notification on Monday.The world's second-biggest sugar producer had restricted production in the current marketing year because of a drop in sugarcane supplies.

Industry leaders have welcomed the change, calling it a “jackpot for farmers,” as it promises quicker cane payments, improved cash flow for mills, and more stable sugar prices.
